According to The Detroit News on July 6th:
Crews are working to repair a water main break that produced a massive sinkhole Monday on Detroit’s east side.
A resident alerted the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department to the yawning opening — at least a dozen feet across — in the pavement near Chene and Medbury, which was caused by an 8-inch rupture and a damaged 18-foot-deep sewer at the site, spokeswoman Curtrise Garner said.
Within 45 minutes of the call about noon Monday, she said: “We were able to get on site, analyze it and start making repairs. It will probably take a few days.“
