According to ABC 9 WAOW:

Flames erupted in a Taylor County community after a drill hit a gas line. The Medford Assistant Fire Chief says that caused the gas to leak.

The assistant fire chief says contractors from PSI were installing a monitoring well, when their drill hit the gas line. He says the pick up truck burst into flames, and the drilling truck next to it also caught on fire.

Obscherning has damage to his garage and his fence came in. But neighbors like him say they’re lucky the fire didn’t spread, and could have caused a lot more damage.
